At the recent annual retreat the Board of Directors of the NH Mental Health Council designated Criminal Justice as a fourth Workgroup topic. The initiation of this Workgroup comes out of the productive efforts that were begun by the Commission to Develop a Comprehensive State Mental Health Plan. [See Volume III of Fulfilling the Promise: Mental Health and the Criminal Justice System].
The Mental Health Council strongly supports improving awareness and integrating mental health issues into various levels of the criminal justice system (i.e., diversion, treatment, re-entry, police training).
Workgroup members have yet to be named.

The Exchange looks at how the Granite State delivers mental health care and how it will deal with rising caseloads and the lack of funding to support those cases.
